Director/devisor/dramaturg, Asta (she/her) desires to work fluidly between — physical & visual theatre — new opera/musicals —and Shakespeare. Her own creations hold conversation with history, mythology, the natural world, growing from an interest in form, in the art of  how something is made as much as what is made.

Emerging from and engaging with international communities, she hails from Bangalore / Mussoorie, India, and studied at NYU’s multidisciplinary studio, Playwrights Horizons Theater School to develop an intersectional directing practice that emphasizes co-creation and shared ownership in collaborative processes. She completed NYU’s acting program in Berlin, training in Stanislavski’s active analysis, Brecht’s Epic theatre & Gestus and post-dramatic theatre. She primarily engages with new work, collaborating with a range of artists, and has worked & connections with experimental theatre collective, the TEAM, and Under the Radar festival.

Though primarily directing, Asta stays in tune by spreading across disciplines, occasionally as a performer, mover, dramaturg, or writer.
