Philistia
philistia/fi-lis-tee-uh/noun. name of the land of the Philistines
At the end of the Bronze age a violent, sweeping migration took over the Mediterranean. Three migrating people row with their community to reach their new promised land, Philistia. Migrants and natives merge to become one. Goliath is killed. A pharaoh talks of the battle won against the raiding migrants. Generations later a final line of descendants are buried and gone, remembering the ghosts of their past, as invaders come and go, yet the same land persists on. Composition of music and movement, merging of elements and bond to the natural world, come together to investigate memory, the formation & destruction of the Philistines, and human cycles of violence.
